TOP TIPS SUMMARY

  1. Firstly, be aware that you need to take control of your career progression. Don't wait for someone else to come and put the Tiara of promotion on your head

  2. Reflect on your identity in the workplace. How do people see you? How do you want them to see you and consider 360 degree or other feedback to help build your brand. Considering what energises you can be a helpful means of identifying interests and strengths.

  3. Reflect on what themes emerge. Identify key skills and consider what value they bring to your work/organisation.

  4. Formulate brand statements using energetic confident language. Prepare evidence/examples to support those statements so you feel comfortable to talk about them and provide key stakeholders with the information they can share on your behalf.

  5. Find and seize opportunities to talk about your brand, demonstrate your brand and embed your own belief in your brand.

  6. Work on your network, internal and external so that everybody can talk about you in a compelling way even when you are not there.

  7. Stay engaged with your career management, this does need to be reviewed.
